In the one-acre gardens which sweep down to the lake, slow the pace with a dip in the hot tub. There’s also a trampoline, sandpit and outside play equipment for the children.

After watching the sun set, move back inside, where two log burners keep you cosy, the well-equipped kitchen makes meal prep easy and, for the children, there’s a fabulous playroom, complete with a stage to showcase their talents.

When the soft Lake District air lulls you to sleep, six deluxe bedrooms give sanctuary to 11 weary adventurers. Choose the master suite for balcony views of the lake, a log burner and an ensuite.

What a location! Occupying a prime waterfront spot on Lake Windermere, this beautiful retreat offers plenty of peace and tranquility but is close enough to the bustling town of Bowness-on-Windermere, if you can bear to tear yourself away from Downlake House’s many delights!

We’ve tried to think about everything to make your stay at Downlake House just perfect. In all of our large houses to rent we provide all the essential features to cater for a large group. Here’s a list of all the practical provisions we have at the house. If there’s anything you can’t see here but need, just ask as we’ll see what we can do.
