Utterly delightful. No other words will do. Merbach Hill House is a dream hideaway in the beautiful Wye Valley, close to the border of England and Wales. Extended around the original 17^th century stone farmhouse, it’s surrounded by five acres of undulating Herefordshire countryside, in which it feels firmly rooted. Stay in the old farmhouse, where the interior décor takes inspiration from nature’s palette – fresh, colourful and inviting. Or choose one of the five modern, split-level, self-contained suites, where you can retreat for sanctuary. Gather in the spacious living areas, which include the double-height dining hall, many cosy lounges, and a large, sociable country kitchen. Dream-like days with games on the lawn drift into perfect evenings enjoying views of the Wye Valley from the wood-fired hot tub, telling stories around the firepit or partying in the rustic barn. Out and about, enjoy country walks from the doorstep, browse the famous book town of Hay on Wye or take a walk in the Black Mountains, Offas Dyke or Wye Valley walk. Sleeping up to 18 guests in nine restful king-size bedrooms with eight large bathrooms, Merbach Hill House lends itself to multi-generational get togethers, special celebrations and corporate escapes.

We’ve tried to think about everything to make your stay at Merbach Hill House just perfect. In all of our big houses to rent, we provide all the essential features to cater for a large group. Located near the world-famous book town of Hay on Wye on the border of Herefordshire and Wales. Three hours drive from West London, one hour North of Cardiff and one hour West of the Cotswolds.

Are pets allowed?

Up to four well-behaved dogs are welcome at Merbach Hill House, priced at £20 per dog.

Guests bringing dogs should be aware that there is livestock (sheep and cows) in adjacent fields to rural Merbach Hill House so if guests are not confident of their dog's recall, they should be kept on a lead or on a long tether.
Are there any accessible bedrooms available?

Yes. There is one guest bedroom with near level access to a level parking space nearby. This large room can accommodate a wheelchair or other guests who need to be step free. The room has an en-suite double shower and a shower chair can be provided, but there are no grab handles.
Is the house suitable for children?

Yes, Merbach Hill House is great for children of all ages. Stairgates and one travel cot can be provided in advance, free of charge (please bring your own cot bed linen).
Are stag and hen parties allowed?

Hen parties are sometimes permitted. Please ask prior to booking. Sorry, stag parties are not permitted at Merbach Hill House.
What are the check in and check out times?

Check in is at 4pm on the day of your arrival at Merbach Hill House and check out is at 10am.
Can I arrange a supermarket delivery to the house?

Yes. We usually suggest booking a delivery for after 5pm on the day of arrival.
How many cars can be parked at the property?

There is plenty of parking available for up to 10 cars at Merbach Hill House.
How many guests can sit at the dining table?

The versatile double height dining hall can seat 21 guests, or the flexible space can be moved around to provide ample standing room for canapés or a buffet table and seating for a smaller group of 10-15.

Merbach Hill House is an adaptable working retreat with great Wi-Fi, a large meeting/dining hall room seating 21, and 5 breakout lounges/barns plus a huge garden for games or relaxing. Catering options are also available.
Are there tea and coffee-making facilities in the bedrooms?

Please note there are no longer tea and coffee-making facilities in the bedrooms, even if depicted on the images of the bedrooms.

Yes, we ask to hold a cautionary deposit of £1,000 during your stay at Merbach Hill House. This is requested just two weeks prior to your stay, and is returned shortly after, assuming no damage to the property or its contents (see our Booking T&Cs for more information).
