Set in splendid seclusion, surrounded by Suffolk countryside (and yet just 20 minutes from the bustling town of Bury St Edmunds), Olive House is a pleasing blend of understated luxury and home-from-home comforts. It’s the perfect base to gather all the generations of the family or groups of friends for some quality time together.

Follow the winding driveway and let the world fall away as this newly renovated, architecturally designed contemporary property comes into sight, cocooned by mature trees and landscaped gardens. Once inside, let the calming, modern interiors soothe you with floor to ceiling windows giving plenty of light to the open plan living spaces. The rooms are immaculate, from the convivial lounge, with its magnificent bar, to the kitchen, where wicker lamps of all shapes light the dining table, creating an informal vibe for family breakfasts and dinners.

Drift into the grounds, through sliding and Crittal doors, to find more areas to dine, socialise and relax. Spend summer days around the pool, on the tennis court, or in the sheltered hot tub, before firing up the barbecue. When the food’s ready, you might have trouble corralling the children from the extensive lawns, TV room or pool table. Or perhaps they’ll be staring in wonder at the dinosaur statue, down at the garden’s edge.

Olive House is somewhere to bring all the generations, having beautifully appointed bedrooms for up to 24 guests. Some of the bedrooms are on the ground floor for easier access and two are family rooms. On the Suffolk/Norfolk border, it’s in a great location to explore this corner of England, from the Norfolk Broads to the pretty seaside towns of Southwold and Aldeburgh. Thetford Forest is just up the road too, for outdoor adventures. After your days out, Olive House a wonderful base to come home to.

Wow what an amazing house. We have stayed in many large houses but this has topped the lot. The owners have thought of everything and were always on hand if needed. The outdoor space is also amazing. We’ve tried to think about everything to make your stay at Olive House just perfect. In all of our big houses to rent, we provide all the essential features to cater for a large group. Here’s a list of all the practical provisions we have at the house. If there’s anything you can’t see here but need, just ask as we’ll see what we can do.

What are the check in and check out times?

Check in is at 4pm on the day of your arrival at Olive House and check out is at 10am (or 4pm if checking out on a Sunday).
How many cars can park at the property?

There is parking for up to 12 cars at Olive House.
Is the house suitable for children?

Children are very welcome at Olive House. One travel cot and one high chair are available on request (please bring your own cot linen). Please note, parents should supervise children at all times around the swimming pool and hot tub area.
Are pets allowed?

Up to two well-behaved dogs are allowed at Olive House, subject to a fee of £30 per dog. Dogs are not allowed upstairs or on soft furnishings.
Are stag and hen parties allowed?

Respectful hen parties are permitted at Olive House. We're sorry but stag parties are not permitted.
How many guests can sit at the dining table?

The dining table can seat up to 24 guests.

Are there any house rules we need to be aware of?
To ensure you have a wonderful and memorable stay at Olive House, we ask that you understand the following important house rules:
- No fireworks please
- No additional day guests please (24 is the maximum)

The nearest train station is Bury St Edmunds (10 miles).
What is the nearest airport?

The nearest airports to Olive House are Norwich (39 miles), Stansted (57 miles) or Luton (74 miles).
Will you hold a damage deposit during our stay?

Yes, we ask to hold a cautionary deposit of £1,000 during your stay at Olive House. This is requested just two weeks prior to your stay, and is returned shortly after, assuming no damage to the property or its contents (see our Booking T&Cs for more information).
How do I book?

You can check availability and pricing and place your booking request online, or by calling our team on 01242 352 747.

When booking, we ask for a deposit of 33% of the total price, with the balance due 12 weeks prior to your stay (or the full balance when booking within 12 weeks of your stay).
